Hello,
I am the new employee trainer (instructor) for Nihon Insight Technologies Corporation
NIT's new employee training includes not only technical training in Java, but also business manner training as a member of society.
Within a few days of joining the company, “Right after joining the company, our new employees took part in an
online business manners course led by an outside instructor.
They learned a wide range of skills, like how to exchange business cards, proper phone etiquette, and even
seating order in meetings”
And now I would like to introduce our in-house business manner training, based on the external training, with a view to participating in projects as an engineer.
The training mainly focused on two parts:
(1) A lecture and discussion on professional mindset and attitude toward work
(2) A hands-on roleplay session to practice business card exchange
The training focused on two types of training.
It’s not just about the tech — we believe understanding how to approach work with the right mindset and professionalism is just as important. This session gave our new team members a valuable chance to put those skills into practice.
Below we introduce the two types of training, with photos of the new employees who attended.
(1) A lecture and discussion on professional mindset and attitude toward work
This is a picture of a discussion based on the theme presented by the training manager.
As days have passed since the start of the training, it can be seen that they are becoming more comfortable
talking to each other.
As an instructor, I am impressed by the fact that new NIT employees are able to seriously discuss their future
vision at work.
(2) A hands-on roleplay session to practice business card exchange
During the in-house business card exchange training, participants practiced exchanging business cards in a format that reminded them of what they had learned in the external business manner training and put their comprehensive business manners into practice.
The exchange of business cards is just one scene in an actual meeting.
Therefore, at NIT, we do not only practice exchanging business cards in a practical manner, but also practice
entering and exiting rooms and the actual content of meetings with clients, while improvising.
In addition, role-plays are conducted in which participants are assigned to play the role of a manager of a
client company.
In this case, the three newcomers, accompanied by a sales representative, visit three people who play the roles of a department manager, a section manager, and a young employee at the client's office. Let's take a look at the scene.
------------------------------------------------
◎Start with entering the room
The sales representative takes you to the room and greets you with “Akaruku (cheerfully), Tanoshiku (enjoyably),
and Genkini (energetically)”
to enter the room.
*“ATG” is a phrase that is valued when working within the company.
◎Business cards are exchanged.
There is actually an order for exchanging business cards that should be observed based on the pecking order of
positions. The participants are nervous about whether they will be able to properly identify themselves as
members of the company while observing this order.
◎Discussion at the business card exchange
◎Near the end of the meeting
Even the ending manner of “leaving the meeting energetically at ATG” is practiced.
◎End of the practice session
The participants receive feedback from the role-players, including their own self-evaluations and the
evaluations of the manner training staff and the newcomers around them.
Newcomers: “It took me a long time to exchange business cards...” I was too busy trying to say my name
properly.
Training supervisor: “In that situation, I think the person with the higher position should start the
conversation.

helps build confidence.
